Breaking Barriers: How Urzi Supports is Redefining Care

Want to hear the full conversation? Listen to the podcast episode here.

At Riva Offices, we’re proud to spotlight the people who help shape our community from the inside out. We recently did a podcast episode with Dino Urzi, Clinical Psychologist and Director of Urzi Supports, one of our OG founding members who joined Riva before our doors even opened in 2023. Now based across our Robina space and the wider Riva community, Dino’s journey has grown alongside ours.

This conversation was a special one exploring mental health, leadership, resilience, and what it truly means to build sustainable performance in both business and life.

From Private Practice to NDIS Leader

Dino Urzi, Clinical Psychologist & Director

Driven by a longlife passion for growth. Dino’s path into psychology was shaped by a belief in human potential. He saw how reflection and dedication could help achieve more than they thought possible. While his initial ambition was to become a sports psychologist Dino soon realised that clinical psychology offered a more sustainable and aligned pathway, one that allowed him to deeply support people while still building a meaningful life outside of work.

“I knew it was a fit straight away because it was about working with clients and challenging them to be the best versions of themselves.”

That passion eventually led to the creation of Urzi Supports (formerly Urzi Psychology), which has grown organically since 2016 into a multidisciplinary organisation supporting over 200 participants across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

Creating a One Stop Support Team

Urzi Supports was born from a gap Dino consistently observed across both private practice and the NDIS sector: fragmented care. Too often clients were left to coordinate between psychologists, psychiatrists, GPs and support workers carrying the emotional and administrative burden themselves.

“The biggest issue in this industry is that no one talks to each other - and the client ends up doing all the heavy lifting.”

Urzi Supports was created to transform the way the organisation operates. By combining psychologists, counsellors, support workers, support coordinators, and occupational therapists into a multidisciplinary aligned approach as the team ensures clients receive seamless and coordinated support.

Impact That Matters

When asked about a moment that captured the impact of Urzi Supports, Dino shared a story that quietly says everything. A mother and son the team supported, had never owned a Christmas tree. It was hard for them financially and it had never been possible.

With Christmas approaching the team came together over a focused two-month period setting clear goals, budgets, and accountability. The goal might have seemed simple, but it was deeply meaningful.

Dino explains “They were kind enough to even send me a picture of the first ever Christmas tree as a mother and son. It was only a small one, but it was what it represented.

For Dino, it was never just about the tree. The experience gave participants a tangible sense of achievement and reinforced how powerful goal setting can be when it is approached properly.

The photo from that moment has since become a defining reminder of why the work matters. For him, the true motivation is not awards or recognition, but witnessing real transformation, seeing people receive the support they need, and knowing the journey has been made easier for them.

Embedding Wellbeing into Business with The Performance Code

Dino is also the creator of The Performance Code, a program designed to embed wellbeing into organisational performance. The program translates his personal principles into business practice, creating a clear and practical guide to ensure wellbeing remains a consistent priority.

He noted that in 2025, “Australia lost $39 billion in profitability, which is also due to absenteeism and presenteeism linked to mental health. Presenteeism is people coming to work but not really being there,” Dino explained. “Just because someone shows up doesn’t mean they’re productive.”

Dino’s approach focuses on sustainable performance rather than short-term fixes. He advocates for moving beyond one-off seminars or workshops and instead creating environments where wellbeing is embedded into every decision, interaction and staff check-in. When wellbeing becomes part of the culture in this way, improved performance follows naturally.

The Performance Code helps organisations identify emotional strain early, reduce stigma, and design systems that actually support people to perform well over time.

Endurance, Resilience & the Power of ‘Why’

Guinness World Record holder, Dino Urzi.

Outside of work, Dino is an endurance athlete and a five-time Gold Coast Marathon runner. He pushes his limits not just for sport, but to raise awareness and funds for mental health.

Not to mention, he also holds a Guinness World Record after cycling more than 600 kilometres on an assault bike in 24 hours outside Robina Town Centre. From running marathons wearing a 20-kg vest to simulate the weight of PTSD for war veterans, to taking on extreme endurance challenges to support families in need, every challenge he undertakes is purposeful.

He mentions “Break big goals into small, achievable milestones and always come back to your why, everyone has their own marathon”.

This year, Dino is gearing up to run another marathon, fundraising for Beyond Blue, proving that endurance is about more than physical strength - it’s about making a difference. You can support Dino’s fundraising run here.

What’s Next for Urzi Supports

Looking ahead, Dino is focused on maintaining Urzi Supports’ high standard of care while expanding in a considered and responsible way. His priority is to continue being the best provider possible and to grow their area of influence, provided it can be done with integrity. Expanding into the Sunshine Coast is a key focus.

Beyond growth, Dino emphasises learning and refinement taking each day as an opportunity to improve systems and services. He also offers advice for anyone struggling: “Be proactive, be honest with yourself, and let people in so they can help you.”

Whether you’re navigating life challenges, mental health concerns or NDIS support. Urzi Supports provides coordinated expert care every step of the way.
